OUR VENDORS

DJ: Carl Nubile (Woodbridge, VA)

cnubile@msn.com

-Carl is a good friend of ours, and when he said he'd do our wedding, we knew we were in fantastic hands.  He's incredibly charismatic, reliable, flexible, and he knows his music and his crowds.  He kept everything lively, he played everything we asked him to play (and nothing from our do not play list), and he kept everyone entertained.  He was outstanding.

Invitations: PaperTalk, Arlene Lebowitz (Fairfax Station, VA)

papertalkva@aol.com

Arlene is my maid of honor's mom, and she knows what she's doing.  Our invitations (beautiful ivory with pearlized Celtic knot and hunter green Irish writing) came on time, and they were perfect.  She saved us time, money, & worries!

Favors, placecards, personalized ribbons: MyWeddingReceptionIdeas

www.myweddingreceptionideas.com

-Fast, inexpensive service with great results!

Guest book, flower girl accessories: Weddings by Dezign

www.weddingsbydezign.com

-Fast service with great quality items for the rates

Attendant Gifts: Personalized Creations

-Everything looked very nice, but they did have a delay on my maid of honor's gift until 2 weeks after the wedding, which was a hassle.

Miscellaneous Items: Michaels Craft Store

www.michaels.com

Michael's has everything.  We made our centerpieces from simple glass bowls that we filled with cobalt blue marbles, water, and a single coppery rose.  We also had two smaller glass votives that we filled with copper sand before putting in white candles.  It was inexpensive and simple, but really pretty.  You should go. :)

Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas

A beautiful, classic reception site in Gainesville, VA, set overlooking Lake Manassas.  Karon Canon, the Director of Sales, is an outstanding coordinator.  She was both extremely friendly & professional, and she made our lives easy.  Our original reception site had to be cancelled due to last minute massive construction, but Stonewall stepped in like a pro & our reception was seamless.  The Magnolia Room is filled with light, glorious views, an exceptional staff & chef...our reception was lovely & everyone had a great time.  We not only had the main room, but the gorgeous outdoor terrace overlooking the green & a boardroom for freshening up.  I would recommend Stonewall to anyone who wants an elegant wedding (prime rib & herbed chicken, champagne, mango shrimp, anyone?) combined with a great time (golf carts to take the entire wedding party on an exhilarating ride to the various photo opportunities), and unmatched customer service!

Bella Pictures

As you'll guess by my website, pictures are really important to me.  We lucked out with Bella Pictures, who have locations all over the country.  We met with a wonderful consultant at a convenient time & location several months before the wedding.  They have a unique system in place to ensure that someone will be there to take your photos no matter what.  They offer several packages, many very affordable.  Stirling Elmendorf was our photographer, and he was top notch.  Not just in the quality of the photos and the creativ spin he added to many of our pics, but how unobtrusive he was.  He never got in the way, remained calm, allowed others to take photos with their cameras.  And he got tons of beautiful shots that we will cherish forever.  www.bellapictures.com

Heidelberg Bakery

Heidelberg Bakery's been around for a long time, and it's easy to see why.  Their service was fantastic, they handled all the details and helped with our selection, and they delivered.  Our cake, a 3 tiered "beaded" round cake covered in edible shamrocks and topped with a beautiful pewter Celtic knot heart, was amazing.  Heidelberg has the lightest cakes with delicious fillings.  It was simply perfect and everyone truly enjoyed it.  www.heidelbergbakery.com

Heaven on Earth Wedding Flowers

Linda at Heaven on Earth was terrific.  A small florist in Manassas, she was always there to answer my every question, make suggestions, and give us very affordable prices.  She was even a calming presence on the wedding day!  People are still raving about our flowers...I even had my bouquet preserved after the ceremony...I couldn't give it up.  Heaven on earth has some of the best flowers around, and you can't ask for better service.  Awesome!  www.heavenonearthweddingflowers.com

Alfred Angelo Bridesmaid Gowns & After Hours Formalwear

Alfred Angelo has a lot of fabulous gowns, but this one was a true winner.  My 6 bridesmaids, ranging from 4'10 to 5'11 and all body types, looked gorgeous.  Each one looked like it was made for its wearer.  The cobalt blue we selected was vivid and a standout, and people are still raving about how good "my girls" looked.  The men wore traditional After Hours tuxedos, all with an incredibly affordable package.  They had good service, and an online site that allowed all the men in several locations get measured quickly & easily, and they looked great in person.

Salon Nordine

I can't say enough good things about this place.  They worked overtime to accommodate me, my entire bridal party, my Mom, my mom in law & my grandmother in law.  They came in at 7am to do hair/makeup for everyone (our ceremony was at 10:30am)...and they did it with a smile.  Not only did they have the best prices in town, but they have the most impeccable stylists.  Everyone looked beyond beautiful, and it went very smoothly.  I'd come in for other services as part of my bridal package (massage, mani/pedi, facial) and each occasion topped itself.  This place is full of class, good taste, talented stylists, and charm.  Located at the Town Center in Reston & in Gainesville...you can't go wrong with this salon.

Bridal Gown by Frieda Ridder

This marvelous seamstress in New Brunswick, NJ, has been making gowns, costumes, and other items for me for 25 years!  She's always been magnificent, but she topped herself with my wedding gown.  I gave her a few photos, picked out the material, and with 2 fittings, she had it made.  It fit perfectly, and it was a perfect gown for me...the wedding dress of my dreams.  Every detail, every scallop, sewn by hand.  She did a phenomenal job.  She also made my flower girls dresses, simply from a photo...no pattern needed.  And they were darling.  She is a dynamo...if you want something special, give her a call.
